BARE BONES AND BRANCHES - 10th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE CASSETTE EDITION

NEW VIDEO FOR "TWO TREES" VIA FOLK RADIO UK

Folk Radio UK is hosting the video for "Two Trees", view the video and the full article here

The child reading the story is my son Julian, who was in the first grade at the time of recording. He came home from school with a reader called The Oak Tree and the Fir Tree. It was weird because this idea had been on my mind a lot. Trees must be pliable and bend in order to weather a storm. Even if a tree has the appearance of being stout, if it’s brittle on the inside it will snap. I was thinking about this a

'THE CASTLE INN SESSIONS'

5 songs from Triumvirate, shot and tracked live in a former grand hotel. The premiere is hosted by the excellent Italian music site Ondarock, accompanied by an article of historical context by film-maker/historian Dan Papa. He connects our session with The Shining,  discusses reverb handcuffs, and mentions Teddy Roosevelt's hotel room in Delaware Water Gap, PA. It's quite interesting.

THE DISCOVERY OF REDEMPTION: FULL DISCLOSURE

In the case of musician Lou Rogai this redemption takes the form of a double LP three years in the making. It's called Triumvirate, and it is gorgeous, and it is heartbreaking, and it reminds one that grace exists in this life if we have the dogged strength to finally find it.....Read the full article

NEW SINGLE: "THE SILVER SEA" ON STEREOGUM

Rogai talks about his “return from the abyss” in his 11-minute segment. It follows him and his young son, Julian, on a hike and features picturesque views of the mountainous region of Pennsylvania where they live. Rogai says, “Lewis & Clarke is based on intuition, it is based on what I feel.” Which helps to explain the honesty and emotional depth in this song. Watch the episode here and listen below. The good people of WXPN in Philadelphia have shared the new single, "The Ride". Full article and stream here.

Lewis & Clarke are releasing a new album, Triumvirate, on October 7th on La Société Expéditionnaire. Lewis & Clarke is the work of Pennsylvania-based artist Lou Rogai, with some regular collaborators, the brothers Ian and Shane O’Hara.

Triumvirate, like Lewis & Clarke’s previous work, is exquisitely crafted, orchestrated and performed. The album is lush, warm, melancholic, world-weary, yet often

VIDEO: "SILVER STALLION" IN A STONE-WROUGHT CHAPEL ON FOGGED CLARITY

Lou Rogai on his process and covering Lee Clayton: “I build Lewis & Clarke songs around what I write on guitar and piano. If I were to play solo guitar without any accompaniment or arrangement, it would be in the finger-picking style of traditional American songwriters. This style is now being called “American Primitive”, the patron saints of which are John Fahey and Robbie Basho. Though it seems to be fashionable at the present moment, I’ve been playing this way all of my life and was inspired to do so by…

SOME WORDS SHARED VIA IMPOSE

“Triumvirate is the new album. I have mixed feelings about it because I didn't want it to end. I mean the process, I really enjoyed it. There were a lot of dynamic things going on in life that are embedded in the music and now it's time for sharing those things and figuring out how that process reflects new ideas. By doing that, we're kind of creating our own existence, letting life script itself as we write the script. Have you ever seen an image of a Penrose Triangle? It's the sort of optical illusion…

TITLE TRACK FROM UPCOMING LP, "TRIUMVIRATE" ON WONDERING SOUND

"Pennsylvania musician Lou Rogai, who records as Lewis & Clarke, has a knack for nuance. He constructs songs the way a gifted author tells stories, revealing details slowly, guiding the narrative along confidently instead of racing from one point to the next. All of that is on display in the masterful “Triumvirate,” the first song from the forthcoming record of the same name. Over a gentle, waltzing acoustic guitar, Rogai delivers the song’s lovely, winding melody, navigating the song’s contours with a kind…
